Easter Services!

Sunday, March 24 – Palm Sunday:
Regular worship at 9 and 11 a.m. However, if you are able, we will meet 20 minutes before each service and walk the neighborhood surrounding our church with our palm branches. Bring your children for this festive celebration as we celebrate Christ!

Thursday, March 28 – Holy Thursday:
A service will be held in the Sanctuary at 7pm.

Friday, March 29 – Good Friday:
Worship in the Sanctuary will begin at 7pm. However, if you are able, we will meet at 6:30pm and walk the neighborhood taking turns carrying a cross. It will be a solemn refl ective walk with times of prayer and Scripture. Then we’ll return to the Sanctuary at 7pm with the cross, which will be held by us throughout the service. Childcare provided for nursery/ toddler.

Saturday, March 30 – Easter Prayer Vigil:
This is held as a day of silence, the period of time in between Jesus’ death on Good Friday and his glorious resurrection of Easter. Come and pray for 30 minute segments or any time period. Hosted by the Youth Group from 2-5pm where the Sanctuary will be open for your use. For more information, contact Brad Johnson, youth@kyleumc.org.

Sunday, March 31 – Easter Sunday:
9 and 11am: Worship in FLC. Let us praise God and truly celebrate the Resurrection of Christ! No childcare, but nursery will be open for parents. 10am: Breakfast in Fellowship Hall or outside, weather permitting. Bring a blanket (No Sunday School).

Christmas Services

Christmas Eve Worship, Monday, Dec. 24.
All services are in the Family Life Center.

Children’s Interactive Worship, 5pm:
This service is geared toward families with young children. It is an interactive retelling of the Christmas story, designed to teach and excite your children about the birth of Jesus. It’s going to be a truly fun, casual and memorable evening for your young children.

Candlelight Christmas Eve, 7pm:
A special Communion service where we worship Jesus through singing, retelling of the birth story and sending forth by candlelight. A true celebration!

Sunday, Dec. 30 – One service only in Sanctuary, 9:00 a.m. (no Sunday school)
Wear P.J.’s and children bring their favorite gift.
We’ll gather for prayer and singing of Christmas carols and hymns.

“The Words I Would Say” (Sidewalk Prophets cover) – The Kyle UMC Praise Band

“The Words I Would Say” (Sidewalk Prophets cover) –

Here’s the story behind why the KUMC Praise band did this song. It begins with 5 year old Harper Claes. She approached the Music Minister, Danton Bankay, and requested the band play it. Not only did she suggest it, she sang it to him. So, the praise band decided to perform it.

FYI Harper is the daughter of Sean and Jodie Claes. Sean is the singer in the red shirt in this video. He had no clue Harper knew the song and was surprised when it came up.

Kyle Pumpkin Patch Photos 10/20/12

The Kyle United Methodist Church hosted a free photo day at the Kyle Pumpkin Patch (Located in front of the church at 408 W. Lockhart). Photographer Sean Claes photographed families who visited the patch. They photos are now uploaded and ready. Enjoy with compliments from the KUMC.

Operation Overboard VBS is July 13-15th

Operation Overboard logoOperation Overboard: Dare to Go Deep With God! is an interactive, energizing, Bible-based program that gives families a chance to go deep in their faith.

The Journey UMC and Kyle UMC are partnering together to invite children ages 4yrs –> entering 5th grade on a fun weekend deep sea adventure where they will “dive in & discover” life-changing insights such as:

  • Claim Jesus
  • Choose to Follow
  • Depend on God
  • Dare to Care
  • Change the World through Music, Games, Stories, Missions and More!

Cost is:
$10/ 1 child
$15/ 2 children

Job Title: Nursery Attendant
Reports to: Children’s Ministry Director

Schedule Type: Shift: Part time 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. 4 hours Sunday mornings 5:45 p.m. – 7:45 p.m. 2 hours on alternating Wednesday evenings. Special events as needed.

Compensation Range: $8.50 to TBD/hourly
Description: Actual Schedule: Full time / Part time: Exempt / Non-Exempt: Hours/Week Part time Non-Exempt

Job Description:
This position requires a self-starter who can complete tasks with minimal supervision. The ability to work well with children, parents, and church volunteers is crucial. This position cares for children 8 weeks through 2 years old. It is important to be detail oriented and have the ability to multi task. Attention to a sanitary work environment is required.

Job Duties:
• Maintains a sanitary working environment.
• Collects all pertinent information and supplies from guardians.
• Helps to guide parent and church volunteers.
• Cares for children between the ages of 8 weeks through 2 years old. Sometimes may help in toddler room.
• Check nursery at beginning of each shift and after for cleanliness and safety hazards.
• Communicate effectively with parents regarding any concerns of children in your care.
• Must be willing to work holidays and special events including extra shifts the weeks of Easter, Vacation Bible School, and Christmas, as well as one Saturday quarterly when a mission project is scheduled. Also attends staff meetings as called.
• Welcomes visitors, provide general information regarding our childcare policies and make them comfortable.
• Upkeep and use of our paging system.
• Participates in annual training and certification requirements.
• Other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
HS diploma/ GED
Must pass Criminal Background Check

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in an educational setting or related discipline. CPR and first aid certification.

2012 KUMC Washers Tournament

The 2012 KUMC Washers Tournament @ Front Porch Days

The Fourth Annual Kyle United Methodist Church Washers Tournament is going to be held during Front Porch Days on May 20, 2012.

We’re looking for up to 24 teams of two ($30 per team) and you could win some serious cash for having some serious fun. First place is 35% of the entry fees, second is 15%, and third place will win a fantastic yet-to-be announced non-monetary prize.

Financial Peace University @ KyleUMC

2012 IS THE YEAR TO GET FINANCIALLY FIT!!

Kyle United Methodist Church will begin a Financial Peace University Series on Sunday February 12th from 4:30 to 6:30 PM and will run for 13 sessions, ending May 13th. 
(There will be no classes March 11 for Spring Break or April 8 for Easter)
                                 
Classes are open to the public and membership / materials are $100 per family.  Childcare will be provided by staff and volunteers of KUMC.
