I Want To Walk As A Child of the Light
Thank you, Brad for a very eloquent message.
We are excited to be participating in the Kyle Fair Parade this year. Here’s what we are doing:
1) FRIDAY DECORATING FLOAT: Meet at church in front of the pumpkin patch at 6:00 p.m. THIS FRIDAY. Donn Brooks will have his flat bed trailer for us to decorate. We need:
-people to load up the hay bales that are currently in the pumpkin patch onto the trailer.
-blankets for us to sit on the 7 bales
-the KUMC banner (SEAN)
-pumpkins to be placed on the trailer as decorations
-A LOT of hard candy to be thrown the day of the parade
2) SATURDAY RIDING THE FLOAT: Meet at church by 8:45 a.m. to ride the float. Actual parade line up begins in front of Wallace school at 9:00 a.m., so we will go over as a group. We need:
-last minute decorating done
-people to ride the float. If you have a child, ride with them. If you have KUMC T-shirts, wear them, but not mandatory at all.
-people to walk beside the float and throw candy. We cannot throw candy from the float itself, but can walk beside it.
3) AFTER THE PARADE: Meet back at the church to unload the pumpkins and hay bales.
If you have any questions, email Barbara at pastorba@gmail.com. I hope you join us for this very fun time and help us represent Christ in the community! Barbara
P. S. Here are some of the rules that I received from the Parade Coordinator. I have also attached the two documents we received:
On behalf of your Kyle Parks and Recreation Department, I want to thank you all for participating in our 2011 Kyle Founders’ Parade. Attached you will find the parade staging order. Please review the order and find your location. As this is a different staging location this year, I strongly encourage everyone to drive through Gregg-Clarke Park on Friday evening to find your spot. All participants’ location will be marked out by numbers on the street. This year’s Parade route will be reversed from last year’s. We will leave from Gregg-Clarke Park and head east down Center Street towards the City Square Park. Staging will begin at 9:00am and the Parade will start at 10:00am sharp. Please be in your vehicle/float or in your designated spot ready to go by 9:45am. There are many large groups and we do not want gaps during the flow of the Parade. Our emcee will be located at Center Street and Sledge Street. I have attached one map to outline the staging and Parade route.
The Parade concludes at City Square Park where we will have birthday cake to celebrate the City of Kyle’s birthday. At the end of the Parade, please continue down Center St. and turn right onto Front Street. That road is wider and will create less of a traffic jam.
Please remember that there are still rules to participate in this parade. Each rider must remain seated while in motion. No standing or leaning while moving. Adults on entries/floats must be responsible for children on entries. Throwing items from vehicles or floats is prohibited. Only those walking may pass out candy.
What is that quote: “The best things come to those who wait.” They will be the best pumpkins EVER!
So, here’s the update. The truck is parked in front of the church right now! The driver has to be somewhere by 1:00 p.m. tomorrow, so he is going to begin to unload the pumpkins himself in the morning.
If anyone is available at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow (Monday) morning to help him unload, I know he would appreciate the help. We are getting 500 pumpkins!
We are still meeting at 6:00 p.m. tomorrow (Monday) afternoon to sort, organize and set up for sale on Tuesday afternoon.
Hope to see you tomorrow! Thanks so much and blessings!
Barbara & Sean

Yoga is for everybody! Our intention is to provide you with safe classes where you will gain physical fitness and a calm mind. Men and women of all shapes, sizes, and ages are encouraged to come and learn what yoga is all about. If you are a regular practitioner, we will encourage you to deepen your practice. If this is your first time, no worries, we are a supportive community where you can learn and explore the discipline.
My personal philosophy is that life is hectic enough; the hour you practice yoga should be about restoring and rebalancing your body so that you can go and meet the world at your best. We actively practice mindfulness, breath work, and letting go of judgment, competition, and expectation. We allow our practice to be light and joyful.
“One God, many paths,” say the yogis
“Open hearts, open minds, open doors,” say the Methodists
This allows for people of all faiths to practice both their religion and yoga. This specific class is open to people of all faiths and each individual will be respectfully treated. Classes will sometimes begin with scripture and will end with a prayer.
Dear Friends,
Our nation gathers to remember and honor those lives lost and affected by the events of ten years ago. We hope you will join us at Kyle United Methodist Church as we take part in a special service of remembrance.
